New Year Wishes - Kick start 2010!

Dear Wish Fans

At the beginning of every year, I like to sit down with my best friend to plan out and discuss my personal goals and wishes for my year ahead. In the years that I have followed this ritual, I have found that I have achieved significantly more in my life than in the years that I haven’t had the mental discipline or commitment in the holidays to have been bothered!

While I always have the best intention to create my year in the first few days of January, I find it usually takes me a couple of weeks to really settle into my thoughts and feelings about what lies ahead.

So today, as I sat down to plan my 2010, I thought I would share my approach to keeping energised and on track.

Looking at My Wish Wheel of Life

It seems natural for me to look at 8 main areas of my life:

1.    My intimate relationship with my partner

2.    My connections with my family & friends

3.    My career/business

4.    My finances

5.    My state of health & wellbeing

6.    The amount of fun & adventure in my life

7.    The time I dedicate to my personal & spiritual development

8.    The quality and quantity of “LML Time” I enjoy

I simply draw a circle, divide it into 8 segments and then allocate a topic to each one.

I take 5 minutes to consider how I would rate each part of my life as a score from 1 to 10 given the year just past (0 being the centre of the circle and 10 at the edge).

By joining the scores (scores marked as dots along the dividing lines) around the circle, I can see which parts of my life are lopsized or out of whack and where I could choose to direct more energy or attention, so I enjoy a more balanced and full life. Then I think about steps or events or projects that I would love to achieve across each of those areas in the next year.

Usually I try to list only 3 or 4 things in each area, being a combination of small simple things coupled with a handful of bigger goals, so as not to get too carried away! The trick in deciding on my priorities is to be very honest about which ones will make me truly the happiest throughout the year.

And then I play a game of The Wish, focusing on my strongest, “deepest” wish!  Without exception, I find the game opens up amazing insights about achieving most of my wishes (you’ll find they are always energetically linked!) and within no time at all, fresh and exciting opportunities appear out of the blue and I’m on my way to living another action packed year, more closely aligned to being my authentic self.

To keep my energy flowing, I review my wish wheel at the end of every 3 months.  I look at whether the wishes I made at the beginning of the year are still relevant or whether they need to be updated or replaced.  I look at the areas where I have focused my energies and those where I seem to be blocked and notice how I feel. Again, I play a game of The Wish to help open me up to new insights and ideas.

While I know that this approach can be overly task orientated for those of you who like to be more spontaneous and free flowing in life, it does still lend itself to getting you up and out of your comfort zone and more into the deliberate creative process!

We are all interested in manifesting the happiest and most fulfilling lives we can, and to do that it’s important to take positive actions steps that let the Universe know we are totally committed to the process of creation and fulfilling our wishes!

I hope this inspires you to take time out this week to contemplate your wishes for 2010 and most importantly to play a game of The Wish and get the year moving!
